Parade to Sunnyside Event
Linden Hills Co-op
September 2010

The Linden Hills Co-op moved one mile away from their former location.  Some of their shoppers were crushed to lose them from the neighborhood, but others near the new location greeted them with open arms.

Pixie Song was tasked with celebrating this new step, while paying proper homage to the Co-op’s former location.  The solution?  A New Orleans Second Line Funeral Procession from the old location to the new to mourn the loss of the old location, and demonstrate that the new location is less than one mile away.

More than 175 people danced, rode their decorated bikes, and paraded through the city streets, following a dixieland jazz band and a “pallbearer” pushing the Linden Hills Co-op’s trademark wheelbarrow filled with Co-op memorabilia.  The parade route was lined with poetic signs detailing the history of the old Co-op, as well as the “green” features of the new location.

It was a fun and quirky, yet respectful ending to the Co-op’s time on 43rd Street, and celebrated the new “Sunnyside” location in style.

Linden Hills Woofstock
2008-present

Woofstock organizers hired Pixie Song to relieve over-worked volunteers and improve upon Woofstock’s reputation as one of Minneapolis’s best dog focused events.

Pixie Song delivered by signing up additional sponsors and enhancing Woofstock’s trademark dog tricks contests. They sold booth space and managed relations with the 30 businesses participating in the Woofstock Exhibition.  And they added crowd-pleasing events like a dog agility demonstration, a warm water dog wash, and live music.

The results were amazing during 2009’s economic recession–a huge turnout of more than 2,000 dog lovers, more exhibition booths sold than ever before, and a profitable Woofstock for the first time in the event’s five-year history.

2010 brought nearly 3,000 humans, 3,000 dogs, and again turned a profit.

Reindeer Day/Reindeer Night
2008-present

The Linden Hills Business Association wanted to draw more customers to Linden Hills for holiday shopping.

Pixie Song responded with a whimsical, yet traditional, holiday theme.  Horse-drawn wagon rides and live reindeer mingled.  Kids visited with Santa.  Carolers sang around the village.

Merchants offered creative promotions to lure holiday shoppers.  Pixie Song promoted the event with flyers, posters, media coverage, and with a collaboration with the Life Time Fitness-sponsored Reindeer Run.

The result?   Crowded streets and stores packed with shoppers.  A phenomenal start to the Association’s holiday season.

Linden Hills Festival for the Linden Hills Business Association
2008

For the first time in its 34-year history, the Linden Hills Festival had two locations.  Pixie Song was asked by the Linden Hills Business Association to provide entertainment for the business district location, and facilitate moving the crowds between the district and Linden Hills Park.

An afternoon of horse-drawn wagon rides between the two locations, special events and discounts at area retailers, an exotic animal petting zoo, and a variety of family friendly musical acts facilitated movement between the two venues.
